3. Getting Started
This section will help you quickly understand how to use Audio Tags Editor to manage your MP3 file metadata.
Quick Start Guide
- Launch the application from your Applications folder or using Spotlight (Command + Space and type "Audio Tags Editor")
- Open an MP3 file by clicking the "Open File" button from the File menu or using Command + O
- View current tags in the main editing panel
- Edit tags by clicking on the respective fields and typing your changes
- Save changes by clicking the "Save" button or using Command + S
User Interface Overview
Audio Tags Editor features a clean, intuitive interface designed for efficient tag editing:
Main Window Components
- File Browser: Shows currently opened MP3 file
- Tag Editor Panel: The central area where tag editing takes place
- Album Art Viewer: Displays album artwork if available
Basic Workflow
Editing Tags

Open an MP3 file(s)
- Use File → Open or the Open button in the toolbar
- Select your MP3 file in the file picker dialog

View current metadata
- Select desired file(s) in the top File Browser
- Current tags will display in the Tag Editor Panel
- Album art (if present) will appear in the Album Art Viewer

Edit metadata fields
- Click on any field to edit its value
- Common fields include:
- Title
- Artist
- Album
- Year
- Genre
- Track Number
- Comments

Save your changes
- Use File → Save or press Command + S
- All changes will be written directly to the MP3 file
Tips for Efficient Editing
- Use Tab key to move between fields
- Press Enter/Return to complete editing a field
- Standard macOS keyboard shortcuts work throughout the application (Command + O to open, Command + S to save, etc.)
